    Default Black bird focus problem

    Attached Images Attached Images

Attached a photo of a black bird (Drongo) taken with aCanon 6d2, 75-200 F2.8 with 1.4x converter.
Camera set to 1pt AF, Evaluative metering, AI Servo.

I focussed on the black bird but the camera clearlyfocused on the grass about 10m behind.
This image comes from Canon DPP4 which convenientlyshows the focus point.

    What gives?
Am I not having enough contrast under the AF?
How should I have taken this shot?
    Any comments will be appreciated.

The bird is way too small in the frame. The camera is not going to focus on something so small

I agree with Arash. With the subject so small, you'd have a slight chance with a clean background (e.g. sky). But with a busy background the camera is not going to grab on to the bird.
