I had an opportunity to observe and photograph breeding behaviour of a green magpie pair at the Himalayan foothill forest near my home town Siliguri, they accepted my presence after few days of work and were bold enough to forage around me.

Thanks for looking and valuable inputs.

Debapratim, I would like to see a little more depth of field next time on this beautiful bird. I think it may also be underexposed just a bit. Nice prey and profile view here!

Interesting bird and the insects are a bonus. It could have done with more DOF, and the multiple catch lights could be cleaned up just leaving one.

Sounds like you were quite close. Very neat looking bird and the prey is a plus. Killer background.

I love the way it is grasping at the prey, with the wings nicely dispersed along the bill. A bit more dof for the bottom part would indeed have been good, but I like it overall. Terrific colours, although I'm thinking a touch more reds to the overall colour balance may be good as well.

Certainly a stunningly beautiful & colorful bird! I agree with other re. a little more DOF to have everything sharp but a keeper regardless!

I love the catch (sky) light in the eye!
