A drab species, and one we do not see posted too often. This one had a bit more yellow on the belly than I usually see. This species likes to hang out high in the trees, but is very often heard and is a familiar sound in North America's northeastern forests. This one seemed to be happy to have a short conversation with me down at eye level

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5.6., ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, eye work, toned down the perch's brighter areas - especially the lichen. Audio used.

Great singing pose. As you suggest, more often heard than seen, especially at eye level. Thanks for sharing.

Great frame of this Wood-Pewee. Like the open Bill. Nice perch and great background.

I got my first photos of this species this year. Stayed low for some reason. Beautiful details and background. Being super picky I wish he was on a prettier perch. But I do realize that getting a flycatcher on anything other than a dead snag or bare stick is almost impossible.
