I happened across this snake eating a fish at a local lake yesterday. I took a series of shots as the snake worked to get the meal down. In this shot the snake seems to be using the rock to push the fish up against to help get it down his throat. He eventually was successful and swallowed the fish.

Whoa. Very cool you came across this scene and were able to photograph it. Detail looks good. I see these snakes quite often.

Hi Allen - what a sight ! Liked the details in the subject and that eye as well . Techs look fine though i might have gone for say f/8 but it is still working as it is emphasising the head and rest of the body is getting blurred nicely. I see some noise on the blurred parts of the snake. Nice scene .

    TFS !

Congratulations Allen I bet you were chuffed to bits with this, a really unusual shot, well focused and I like the colours.

    Hello Allen!

Very interesting behavioural image! Seems the snake got quite a "mouthful" there, judging by the open jaw and stretched skin as he tries to swallow its prey.

Good techs, well composed and nicely processed too. Would have liked to see a lower POV but not sure it was possible?

Interested to see more from this sighting, especially those last moments when the snake is about to swallow the fish's tail...

Great timing Allen, thank you so much for sharing!!!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
