To explain the title, there was a game I played in my childhood years called pick up sticks. A group of sticks was shaken and then thrown into a pile, the object of the game was to remove as many sticks as possible without disturbing or moving the other sticks. Things were simpler then, but then I guess that dates me. The intersecting stems of the Fire Flag plant brought back memories of that game. I captured this image of a Purple Gallinule at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. Every year when the blossoms of this plant get just right the Purple Gallinules move into it to feed, this brings them out to the edges and open areas. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Post processed in Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop CC 2018, work on the feathers burning and saturation to fix a couple spots, work on the eye, toned down specular highlights on the feet
Cropped for composition and presentation, mostly I do not prefer a square crop but in this case it eliminated some trouble spots in the background
