Mods, please delete this from 'Theme' as it was by mistake.

Hi Sanjeev - I removed the theme prefix but with all those flies this might qualify. Looks like this lion thinks it's a leopard. You handled the dappled light well. Overall, it feels a little flat. I would give the lion a bit more punch if it were mine.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Man look at those flies. The light is not ideal here. But i like the branch it is on.

A chilled Lioness Sanjeev, irrespective of the pesky flies. Like the dappled light. Colours look good to me, but have you applied NR to the BKG looks too smooth, at ISO 800 you should even be thinking of it (please advise, thanks) ? With that camera I still feel the detail isn't quite there, not sure if it needs more USM or AF is out slightly? I'm also surprised that as the branch/tree (as is within the plane of focus) - it too, lacks definition?

Steve, no NR applied to the BG. Maybe a bit of haze was the reason. This is about 50% crop.

OK, just the cool dynamic range of the 5D4.

    This is about 50% crop.
You want to avoid these crops Sanjeev, even with the 5D4, you are just throwing away good IQ. Providing you are not stressing the subject or coming between Mum & cub etc, then there no reason why you could not get closer.

Agree Steve. We didn't have much time with the cat. This was on way to our camp from another zone. I should have slapped on the 1.4X and shot.

Can't help but love the pose Sanjeev! I might dodge the face just a tad but in spite of the other crit's I'm seeing, I think it's perfect otherwise.

    Hi Sanjeev,

Love the relaxed pose, and how great the dappled light works in this capture. Like the BG as well and all those flies.

Hi Sanjeev -- Pretty late on this but I liked the relaxed lioness on the tree , always a nice perch to get a cat on it. Agree with the above comments , especially reg the crop it doesn't help the IQ at all and hence the lack of details here . Keep sharing your images from your recent trip , really a treat to watch .

    TFS !
