I captured this image at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. My advise, if you see one of these birds, don't stop, don't raise the camera, run away from it quickly... an exposure nightmare. Maybe a overcast day might be better but then I fear it would be just a black blob, bright light is needed for the iridescence and colors to show. This image was captured about an hour after sunrise in the spring. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

I had a good laugh Joe. I fully agree. They are so hard to get right. You have a really nice perch here. Very good details. But as with other shots you have a strong blue cast to your shot. Here is a quick redo addressing the cast and bringing out a bit more of the warm morning light you described. Not much to do about the head. Unless you get it at the perfect angle then t is impossible. Just did a few global adjustments.

Hi Joe, well I feel you did manage to get nice light and exposure on this fellow, as the iridescence shows up so well. I like the simple perch with a few pieces of foliage too. Before seeing Isaac's repost, I was going to suggest trying to tease out a bit more detail on the near underwing, which can be done. The open beak adds interest.

Your comments are spot on Joe!
Very hard to expose these birds properly.
I like the perch very much.
I do wish the near wing was in a better position and you had a bit more of a head turn.
I think a repost somewhere between your OP and what Isaac has done would be perfect.
I love the fanned tail and the amount of iridescence you were able to show.

Great pose on the bird. Nice perch. Also like the blue sky background.
