Hi John, the Buck really stands out against the dark BG, Good techs and detail on the buck. Vertical comp works well.

I think it looks really eye catching, well done. I like the selective lighting on the head and also the grass seed heads.
I am surprised it was so dark, it is light here around 5am.

Hi John - Very nice key lighting effect here. The head turn works well and so does the vertical comp. If it were mine I would darken the bg so that it is all black and the leaves near the top don't show. I would also drop the cyan and blue on the legs of the buck.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi John -- Very nice image and i loved the way your subject is popping against that dark BKG. Nice suggestions above, agree with the cyan on the legs.

    Nicely done !

    TFS !

Very nice use of key lighting & subject isolation here John, the HA is very effective, I take it you reduced the overall lighting and dark BG in PP?

Wow, this works very well John. Must be the colours, so nice and vibrant against the black. Those antlers look like velvet.

Super techs and well exposed, nice composition. Good HA from subject too.

Rachel gave you some nice pointers above. I like this very much and cannot see anything else I could suggest... I would perhaps try reduce brightness or go down on exposure on the back of the buck just a little, so that the face stands out more?
Wonderful work John, I am delighted to see such variety from you in terms of image content but also PP work, such a pleasure to view your images

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
