A first post in far too long...but here goes for a re-boot.

Arctic terns at the Farne Islands, UK.
Canon 1Dx2, 400 DOii, ISO 500, f8, 1/2000. The day was horrendously bright which played havoc with these beauties but you live with what you are given...

Love the action here Mike and the interaction between the birds. As you mention the light was a bummer and caused some harsh shadows and bright areas. However the action is so good on this one that I can deal with the light. It is not ideal but still very solid.

I like the interaction and the fact that both are reasonably sharp. These kind of action shots are tough because they always happen up in the air against the sky BG and with some shadows but you did well here

Love the pose on both birds and the interaction here. The light is what it is.

You did best you could, and ended up with an entertaining frame. This would work well as a square crop with some trimmed off the bottom. Nice to see you back!

We moan every year about our weather, then we get a warm spell and all us photographers moan because of the contrast! Tough conditions but still a pleasing result because of the excellent composition. Good to see you back Mike
