One of many I took this spring, wish it weren't so high wish it were more at eye level. Hand held Had the ISO cranked up was anticipating a flight shot, which are very hard to get. Bird was close to a nest cavity Processed with DPP 4 and Photoshop some eye work and removed a few small pieces with clone tool.Comments welcome.

Spectacular bird, Kevin. Detail looks good on the bird and depth of field well chose for this. Agree it would have been better if the bird was closer to eye level. Besides giving a more satisfying view, it may have helped get more of the foliage in focus as virtually none is now and does distract a bit. In that regard, it might be worth playing withe composition here to remove some of it, especially from the bottom. But at risk of contradicting myself, the bird is probably bigger in the frame than I find comfortable at present. A tricky one to compose for sure.

A great bird to find, and near a nest cavity as well!
You are correct in wishing for a more eye level view. Yellows look good .
I think you could increase the exposure by 1/3 to 1/2 a stop.
There is a big dust spot to the left of bird's beak.Easy fix.
I would loosen the crop a bit- this may help lessen the impact of the high perch.

Hope you rework this one Kevin, it has much potential. I agree about it being too big in the frame and the noise is evident... Nice find.

nice fins Kevin, and good job getting close. The image has a number of issues: the birds is a bit too large in the frame as mentioned, his head is slightly turned away from us and the breast is partially blocked by the leaves. the shooting angle itself is a bit steep and the image shows noise and could use both NR and sharpening.
