    Default Crested Caracara

    Taken in Texas, May 2018
Got lucky with this image as I did not clip the wings.
    Canon 1DX 600mm ISO 1250 SS 1/2500 ISO 5.6
Cropped to vertical (no more room top or bottom), usual LR sliders, levels, cloned out faint outline of wind turbine in BG on right.
I love the slight bit of irridescence in the wings.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,

Hi Gail, love the bird, the raised wing pose, and perch. I am on my tablet so best I don't comment on exposure, color, etc. You had the name correct on the original posting as Crested Caracara. Thank you for sharing.

Super image Gail, I really like the head turn and those outstretched wings with the iridescence is just wonderful, you missing that heat yet?

Fantastic image Gail! Terrific details, I love those talons! I'd personally prefer a bit more canvas above, which should be easy to add seeing the plain sky. I changed the title for you yesterday :-)

Im sure the perched shots were nice but look how much drama and interest is created when the subject opens its wings in preparation for flight. Love the sheen on the secondaries and the feet wrapped around the branch. Look away pose is cool too. Techs are as solid as can be! Very nice Gail, my fave from your trip so far.
