    Default KILL BILL!

Hi all, this was the first time I witnessed a male lion killing a WB. This was in central Serengeti in the afternoon so light wasn't the best. We had seen a pride feed on a fresh kill a while ago and there were thousands of WBS and Zebras around who were wondering which direction to go and suddenly they decided to head past the area where the pride was resting. As the WB were going by, lot of dust was created and our guide hinted that a kill could happen. In an instant this huge male sprang out of no where and pounced on the poor WB. I was lucky to get this in a fraction of a second as i had trained my cam in the direction. IQ may not be up to it due to harsh light and dust but I thought I'd share this for the theme. Should have used my 500mm instead.

Sometimes you take a shot regardless of the stumbling blocks present, Sanjeev. If you don't, you miss it and can never redo it. This is one of those.

I think if the image achieves one goal: it shows the size of this king of the jungle because these buffaloes are not small beasts! TFS!

Hi Sanjeev -- I think you had some action packed trip to the Serengeti ! The size of the lion is huge and a sense of chaos is visible. But this is more of a record shot IMO, IQ has suffered a bit but nonetheless a great sight to witness and atleast have an image to cherish it for years to come.

    TFS !

Hi Sanjeev - What a thrilling experience to be in the middle of the chaos and witness this. I think we would have all tried to get a shot despite the conditions. I agree with Haseeb that this more of a record shot to remember the experience.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Thank you for sharing Sanjeev,

Indeed an amazing experience, I can just imagine the thrill and excitement you must have felt at the time!

Regarding image: not sure of your workflow and software but I think you can extract more from this, try dehaze in LR (on the lion and WB) and see what happens? Or send me the RAW sometime next week and I will play around a bit. This is so special, yes maybe more of a record shot but I am sure you intend to keep it so worth spending a few more minutes

Really happy for you to have witnessed a lion kill - I bet you would have loved to have a videocamera in your hands and capture the sounds and everything...Unforgettable, right?

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks Gabriela. I will send you the file next week. As for the Video, I had strapped GoPro to the front of the vehicle and did catch the video footage!
