Photographed this American Goldfinch a few weeks back in Staten Island, New York. It was feeding on a dried up Mullein stalk. Photo taken a few minutes after sunrise in really warm and golden light. The background was a large clump of beach grass that was slightly different colors on either side.

Love it. Common bird done really well. Light looks perfect, and 600 + TC on full frame with good technique is the gold standard for IQ. Blacks and whites look great.
Beautiful shot Isaac. Amazing light and I love the perch. BG is sweet. I could see a bit less on bottom and slightly more on top, but either way this is excellent as is. Good pose from the bird. TFS
Dry mullein perches are so cool, I do not how many times I've used them! I too can see a version with less below, but I love the subject, light, details, BG. The yellow plumage looks great against the bronze BG.
Love the light and that great BG.
IQ excellent as always.
It feels very vertical and straight- almost too much so. I wish the mullein was at a slight angle but I am nit-picking here!!

Fantastic frame Isaac!! One of my faves from you. Such a unique perch and the subject pops so well from that BG too. Light angel and details look solid as always, total DFC, and I like the vivid colors too. Well done
