    Default Giraffe Sunset

I guess this one qualifies for this month's theme. Taken in the Timbavati Game Reserve, South Africa on my recent trip. The bird is on oxpecker. I don't normally like squarish crops but did one here to crop out part of a tree that I didn't like. Underexposed in the field to augment the silhouette effect and the colors of the sunset sky.

    1/500
f11 (to get the silhouette of the tree sharp too that I wound up cropping out)

HH from safari vehicle, cropped, curves, color adjustments, sharpened in PSCC.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

    Rachel

Nice colors here. The square crop works well. Like the bird on the neck.

This works very well Rachel. Seems you are branching out with different treatments these days. I do like the oxpecker and the open mouth on the giraffe showing the tooth in sihouette. Colours are great. Composition work... but could imagine a range of possibilities with a shot like this (without knowing what else is in the frame).

Lovely image Rachel, this one I would print and hang on my dining room wall - the presence of the little oxpecker would make a nice topic for conversation!

Wonderful warm colours and framing works for me. I wouldn't change anything here, I like it as presented.
Love your experiments, very inspiring - thank you so much for sharing

    Kind regards,

Hi Rachel -- I really liked this image , the silhouette of the bird really adds to the scene. These Giraffes makes a good case for these kind of images. Liked the colours in the sky as well. And the squarish crop works in this case.
    Nicely done .

    TFS !

Hi Rachel, Sorry for being late on this one. A fine image well executed and processed. I like the clear silhouette of the Oxpecker especially. Well done. Great colours & techs.
