Here's one from the archives. This common loon image was taken from a boat in the early evening. The bird is doing a wing stretch prior to a series of wing flaps. As this image is mostly about the patterns and symmetry of the outstretched wings, I make no apologies about the head angle. :) - though I welcome other opinions. 20D, 300 f/4, 1/750, f/8, ISO 200. Full frame on the sides, but cropped top and bottom for composition.
With this type of image we are really able to see the wonderful detail on the feathers and I like the action you captured in this image too Steve. Having never had the opportunity of seeing a loon I find them fascinating . The lighting in this capture is beautiful as well. Many thanks for sharing.

Nice study of patterns here that's interesting to explore. I don't mind the head angle myself as the eye is still visible. I'd be tempted to put the subject more LRC.
