LCD light vs flash for owl photography

Hi all. I have a Canon 580EXii and a LCD video light that I have just purchased that mounts to my Canon 7Dii hotshoe. Could I get some advice as to which would be better to use after sunset to photograph barn owls and boobook owls. Any camera settings info would also be much appreciated. Cheers.

I think you mean LED light, that's a flood light for video. For photography you need to use your 580 flash
