    Default Wild Dog Portrait

Here's another predator seen on my recent trip. Though I was fortunate to see the dogs just after dawn in the Timbavati, they were on or near the tar road for warmth. To avoid the road in the image I went for a tight portrait. The dogs shortly left the road and went into a neighboring reserve where we could not follow them.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

A great alert pose of this guy. Good call to go in tight. Having only had two encounters with this species (both on our February Okavango trip), I'm not that familiar with them. But as I recall the ones we saw were considerably more richly colored. To my eye this seems a bit washed out and could benefit from several points of black added, and maybe a little saturation. But they probably come in a wide range of tones. You were there.

Nice alert pose from this wild dog. Sounds like you didn't have much time here. Composition wise i think it would look better with the dog higher and farther back in the frame.

Hi Rachel, a good tight portrait of the WD with nice BG! Agree on going tight and it could do with a bit of punch.
