Not put many actuations on the shutter this year but hopefully that will change this week with a few days with the seabirds. Here's one from last week when I did a little scouting mission

    Canon 1dx
    500mm f4 + 1.4x
    ISO 3200
    1/1250th f5.6

Beautiful subtle colors. The background compliments as does the shallow dof.

    Hi Mike,
This one immediately caught my eye, soft, and sweet gradient BG. Front and top of head seem to lose detail... its a beauty and looking forward to more.

Mike - I love the composition here...specifically where you cut across the body and left a bit of the soft oof back; and the amount of room you left on top. As Ann and John pointed out, the soft gradient bk colors are beautiful and really compliment the colors on the bird. Very nice for a scouting trip! Please shoot more shutter actuations this year! I love seeing your photography.

Really like the BG and determined look. Color palette really works here. Details look good.I think I would do a small sliver less on the right and a bit more on the left. TFS

Quite a dreamy feel, which I like a lot. Nice details on the face, and the muted colours work well here. I realize you kept the little piece of debris on the bill, but if mine I'd remove it. Nicely done overall!

This is beautiful Mike. I really like the way the bird is fading into the background in the lower part of the frame. The pose is very good and I like the eye looking ahead. Detail is beautiful, especially on the bill. Soft, muted background complements nicely. Did I say I liked this?
