Hi Sanjeev - Looks like the light was harsh but something seems to have gone awry in pp here. I realize the buffalo was mud covered but the grasses and bg look flat and a bit muddled. Techs also are a bit off. You could have easily dropped the ss and ISO here. It's worth revisiting this one in pp and probably starting over.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hello Sanjeev,

Your frame resembles a painting to me and I really like the presence of the Crater in the background.

Nice pose from the buffalo and good framing. The light appears a bit harsh and consequently shadows a bit strong, but still a very nice image.

I won't repeat what Rachel said above, just thought I'd suggest you bring out more those lovely textures on the back of the dagga boy. Wonderful sighting Sanjeev, thank you for sharing

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

That is a big buffalo. Like the tongue up the nose here. Really like that background with the cloud covered mountains.

Thank you all. Rachel, I have done nothing to the BG except mild NR as it was shot at 1600 ISO. Agree that I could have opted for 800 ISO here. Pulled back some HL in the clouds and reduced the blue cast in the mountains, thats all.

I quite like the setting and the composition but the harsh flat light is not giving the ideal context. I would be tempted to put some tone into the grasses and the clouds to try to give more appreciation of the depth and scale. I am not too sure about the colours but you were there, I wasn't, maybe tone the buffalo down a bit to give more presence??

Hi Sanjeev - I think that's my point, it looks like little was done to the bg. You need to develop each part of the image when shooting RAW or it will look flat and with higher ISOs lacking detail.
