Image taken on Inner Farne island prior to boarding for return trip. Steve and I were a little disappointed not to have had good views of seals, but this one looked kinda cute couldn't resist her.

Hi Jon, yes a nice and unexpected encounter to sign off the day with.

Nothing we could have done re shooting angle as we were on the jetty about 5-8ft above depending on kneeling or flat and NO option for getting onto the beach sadly. Colour looks good, but I might go for a tighter frame as I feel there is a bit too much negative space to the LHS. Interesting you went for 1/1000 @ f/8, just looked at my techs 1/2000 @ f5.6 ISO 500-640 . Love the expression and overall body position. If there was time then a very, nice tight crop of the head with the flippers as per here would I feel have been a killer frame.

    Great day.

    TFS
    Steve

Thanks Steve, I played with the crop but I like the space, Techs - yes I have some with faster shutter speeds, went for f8 hoping to get rear flippers reasonably sharp.

Thought that might be wasted DoF as it's the face for me that is the real 'puller'.

    Good evening Jon:)

Very sweet pose, those whiskers pointing forward are just gorgeous and contribute to the expression on the subject's face! I like the detail in the flippers as well as all that sand stuck to the seal's belly

I too feel there is too much space on the LHS, this would probably not be an issue if you had more on the right?

Colours are great and those pebbles add to the image. If you happen to have a portrait of this cutie please bring it on
Very nice work, so glad you and Steve had a great time, you must do this again

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Like the title. The detail looks good. Agree with Steve on maybe a bit more tight in the composition.

Hi Jon, loved the title a lot! Nice shot with the flipper on the face, though the shooting angle is a bit high, it does not hurt the image much. TFS.

Hi Jon - I'm glad you and Steve had fun. Love the pose of the seal. I think the issue with the space on the left is that the curve of the body has the head angled to the rhs so I would prefer/expect a bit more space for the seal to look into if her eyes were open.

    TFS,
    Rachel
