    Default Chestnut-sided Warbler

Until this year I did not have any shots of this species, but in the last couple of weeks I have had multiple individuals give me prolonged views at eye level and I have shots of them posing and signing and on much prettier perches. But I like the simplicity of this shot. This shot is from Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island. Photographed along the same stream as other photos I have shown. There are pockets of light that shine through the canopy and behind them deep shade. This bird was feeding on bugs and using this vine as a perch. Behind it was the shade on the other side of the stream. This is one of three shots that I got of this individual.

Canon 1dx mark ii and Canon 100-400 ii + 1.4x iii. F9, ISO 3200, SS 1/800. Hand held

Awesome image, Isaac. I shoot with that lens also but have an 80D hooked to it. :)

You got a perfect pose on this one. Really like the dark background makes the bird pop. Well done.

Fantastic detail! The colors and perch are great, and I love the dark BG. On my monitor, the brightest whites may be just slightly hot.

This is looking real good here Isaac. Probably one of your best 'small bird' photographs I have seen recently. That dark BG and the exposure on the bird looks really fabulous. Perfect pose and HA. The whites look good here, with lovely details throughout.

Very well done and thanks for sharing.

This is really nice Isaac! I can't believe the sharpness with the TC on that lens!

Thanks everyone. I was shocked at how good the sharpness was also to be honest. I know that I missed a whole bunch of quality shots because I did not have that combo with me when out in the field. I will post another shot of a pewee with that combo as well.
