Here's a recent capture near my home. These birds are quite common at this location, and I have other photos where the Tern is closer (still dreaming of a 600mm lens) but this one is perhaps a little sharper than my others. Feedback always welcome and appreciated. Cheers.
7DMk2/100-400 lens, 400mm, 1/2500sec, f6.3, iso500, TV mode. PP in acr and PS. NR to background, minor to bird.

These are great birds to try for flight photography as they usually aren't too eratic and are fairly common, as you note. I think this works well as a 'bird in the environment' shot and framing created by the oof vegetation (mangroves?) works for me. Something funny is going on with the colour in the clouds which look pinkish. Was this early or late in the day? You commented on sharpness - how does the RAW look? The bird does look a touch soft in this one to my eye.

Hi Glenn. Thank you for the feedback. Yes, this was taken a short time before sunset. I did use a little sharpening in pp. The raw file needed some sharpening. I've been thinking that maybe the lens needs some micro adjustment...so I tied it recently using the Dot tune method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zE50jCUPhM and came up with a value of -1, but I'm not sure there was much difference to a value of 0. I guess I still need to work on my technique. The Terns were quite erratic in their movements that day too as some were diving for fish.
