I recently got my first ever Dunlin in breeding plumage session - I usually photograph them during fall migration while in their winter plumage. It also turned out to be my best overall Dunlin session. What a treat to photograph it in beautiful shallow water with some fresh vegetation sprouting up.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop after slight CCW rotation, eye work.
What a nice image Daniel. Very painterly and the vegetation really adds some pop to the image. Details and exposure look great too and I like the drop at the end of the beak.. Well done

Great pose, light and love that little drop on the beak. I really like the little vegetation as well. Colors look a little muted to me. My quest for a breeding Dunlin will have to wait until next year I guess...
I just love that background Daniel, really does a lot for the bird. So many times has vegetation messed up shots like this for me, great to see it actually added to yours.
