Canon: 7Dll, 100-400ll 1.4x lll. 437 mm f/8 1/500, 1000 iso from my sea eagle kayak. the fog gives it a soft look, but I like the mood.

Hi Michael, I would be far more aggressive with the tonal range to get more depth and shoot f/4. I think it will still retain an etherial mood, nice perspective, although I'm not sure if it needs a slight CCW rotation, more by eye than technical.

If only I had f/4! Lowest I can go with this setup is 8, lowest without the extender is 5.6. **** budget...

Ah - OK Michael, yes you don't want a big bit of glass in a kayak. Perhaps f5.6then and cropped, ISO would drop to. The 100-400MK2 is very sharp, so not budget at all, it's great universal lens and one that will be going in my bag at the end of the month.

No, I do not have a big bit of glass LOL I am lucky to have the 100-400, I couldn't even afford that really :p yeah plenty sharp alone, but paired with the extender I lose sharpness a bit, but without it, got to crop more, can't decide between the two evils haha

Nice Image. I agree with the comments you can still change the tonal range, this has more potential.

I would have cloned 3-4 twigs, specially the ones intersecting the Bill.

I do think the strength of the image lies in the low perspective.

    Thanks for sharing.

Michael: You were at 437 mm. I'd much rather be at 400 mm with the bare lens than at 437 mm with an extender. Everything is better: You have f/5.6 instead of f/8 if you want it, more sharpness although I've seen pretty sharp images with the 1.4 but I can't make them, better and quicker AF, and so on. It is a brilliant lens; mine is seldom off my 7D II. Do I wish I could get to 600 mm? Yes, but I live with it. But kudos for making an interesting image from a kayak!

Nice mood image. Pretty color palette. Needs some counter clock wise rotation for sure. Also I would clone out the grasses on the left and right side of the head that are touching the bird. Easy fixes for a pretty shot.
