Looks like your cane technique works quite well. The depth of field on the butterfly is perfect. Wish the background was more smooth but i'm sure there was no time for that.

Hi Jon,
Over here these types of butterflies are very hard to capture open wing - so very well done. Nice sharpness throughout. The butterfly stands out well even against a slightly busy BG.

Beautiful subtle colors on the butterfly and excellent sharpness! The butterfly really grabs your attention. I don't mind the background as I think it gives just a hint of the habitat.
