This photo of the Black-necked Stilt was taken at the Click Ponds in the Viera Wetlands, Florida in the morning. The water was very still that morning. I used PS CS3 to enhance this photo.

    Equipment Used:
    Nikon D200
    Nikon 500mm F4 Manual lens
    Nikon 1.4X Teleconverter
    Tripod

    Camera Setting:
    ISO - 400
    F-stop f/11
    Speed - 1/640

Please supply me with feedback. Thanks, ADubin

Lovely reflections in this image Arnold and good exposure bringing out the details on the female stilts back. I do find the head to be soft and it looks like the main focus was on the back. As far as the cropping I woild like to see less room on the left and and more on the right of the canvas thus leaving room for the stilt to leave. Looks like a wonderful place to photograph and many thanks for sharing.

Other than the bird being a little soft in the face, I'm OK with the compo, It breaks the rules, but it makes for an interesting idea, the bird having walked the frame looking for food. A fresh approach to compo :)

I would personally prefer it as vertical, or as Judy suggests...but I suppose this could be good as is for text in the empty space. A catchlight (and on the reflection too) would really bring the bird to life :-) A bit more selective USM in the face area would be beneficial.

    Keep them coming!

Daniel, I agree with you on using USM on the birds face. I posted this photo on photosig.com with more room on the right side of the photo and got comments to remove it and put more to the left. I guess it is personal preference when it comes to this photo. I realize the eye of this Black-necked Stilt blends into the birds head. I know if the eye had catch-light it would improve this photo. Are you recommending me to simulate a catch-light using PS or cutting another eye with a catch-light of Black-necked Stilt and pasting in this photo? Thanks again for your comments. ADubin :)
