Default American oystercatcher trying to feed a young one

I was photographing feeding AMOYs (American oystercatchers) on Nantucket, MA (USA) one afternoon when I noticed one adult trying to feed a younger one. The prey item--I think part of a sandcrab (Emerita)--finally dropped to the sand and the young one was able to pick it up. Canon 7D II, Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II at 400 mm, ISO 400, f/7.1, 1/2000 sec.

Looks good David. Love the interaction! Enough DOF to get both birds in focus, and the eye contact is good with both birds. A few patches of white could probably be toned down a bit.

You caught a nice interaction between the adult and young. Really like the pose on both birds. Composition looks good as well.

The eye of the young bird does not seem quite as sharp to me. Could be just me, the rest looks ok.
Nice POV and the food exchange is a mega bonus.

I love the interaction, and the two good head angles (and criss-crossing bills). I agree about the whites, but cool suff!
