Default Hand held 600 flight...never again!!!

Well, here's one of my early efforts at hand held flight with the 600 f/4. I don't particularly enjoy doing it, but it's nice to know that I can if I want to. An hour of this and my 500 feels light as a feather! I wish the bird had banked just a little more to illuminate the lower wing, but I still like the photo.

Another excellent flight image Doug. Excellent flight pose , eye contact and exposure. The BG gives a very lovely feel to this image as well. Keep them coming !!!!

Nice picture, agree with your self critique regarding the lighting on the lower wing. Details on the top wing are excellent.
Hand holding a 600... I have not much luck HH my 500... I need to get in shape.

    Doug,
I'm very impressed! I HH my 100-400 yesterday for a couple of hours and I feel like someone beat me up this morning.

I like the image. The wonderful red eye and the wing detail of that upper wing are beautiful. The lower wing not being lit doesn't bother me that much. It's still a beautiful image.

Been there, done that. HH the 600, once you are used to do the 500 is something that can be done occasionally, but I wouldn't want to do it all the time. It's not only the extra weight, but the extra lenght that bothers me.

I really don't see the need to do this, unless you don't care for the health of your back and want to play hero :)

Self critique is spot on, still love that great BG.

Nice Image Doug, I like your BG. The only nit here you have already mentioned.

I'm sure I'll be doing it periodically. But Fabs makes some good points about hand holding a 600.

Great light and eye contact. I agree with your own observations and I think it could go a bit brighter. Handholding the 500 is fine, but I'm not sure I'd like the handhold a 600. :)
