Mom is a great hunter and returns with something every time she leaves the den. Dad is around but appears to be less successful- at least from my observations when I am at the den.
She stopped briefly to looked at me just before entering the den.
This was taken at 6:03 PM.

Quite simply fantastic Gail! Focus colours light subject - everything absolutely superb, wow I bet you were pleased with this one!!
If you could selectively lower the luminosity a fraction on the dry grasses but not the fox I think it might be even better.

Hi Gail - What a beautiful image and fox. Love the eye contact. She paused to say look what I got. I understand she only paused for a few seconds, not sure if it was long enough for you to also fire off a vertical frame. What are the blue dots in the bg?

    TFS,
    Rachel

Thanks for commenting Rachel. No time for a vertical.
The blue is the ocean and above that a "finger"of land jutting into the ocean. The alders are the red in the BG.

A beautiful shot in so many ways - the direct stare, the unfortunate prey item, and all the layers in the BG make this a really good frame

Really so nice Gail -- I love the pose and the BG is wonderful. The greens blues and reds work so well together. The prey item is great too. I've yet to find some fox that are active enough during the day, but it's very high on my list. TFS

    Gorgeous frame Gail.
I love the BG and overall colour palette.
The comp, the details are fantastic!
