    Default Malachite Kingfisher

    Captured this beauty in February of this year while moving slowly through shallow waters, thick with tall reeds, in a Mokoro. This is the typical Malachite habitat. It's a large slice of paradise here in the Okavango Delta. C&C welcome.

    D500, Sigma 150-600mm C @ 600mm, 1/2500s, HH, f 8.0, ISO 1600.

    Hi Geoff, a little jewel, and the colours are spot on. Folk dont realise how small these guys actually are. The reed in front of his beak does spoil the pose, otherwise out in the open.

    A beautiful, tiny little icon of Botswana. Habitat is shown nicely. This one missed the memo about putting his bill in front of the reed, but his pose and colors are lovely.

    WOW! Bummer about the stick. Those colours! They just ROCK!
    I hope (praying) to be able to photograph this species in Africa in about six weeks.
