    Default Grasshopper Sparrow

Image created while out last weekend with a couple of BPN members (Stephen Stephen and Wayne Wood). They had photographed these fellas while I was down in Florida and I wanted some for myself as I had nothing on this species. Very curious of recordings, which we used disparingly to lure onto a preferred perch.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @310mm, Aperutre Priority, f/7.1, 1/1000s, ISO400, no EC, natural light, handheld, ~90% full frame (slight trim from the left and bottom).

Good BG, nice perch, good composition, good headturn and detail. Am a bit more of a profile guy myself and thus would wish a bit more of a profile view, but that is completely personal. To sum up: a great shot!

Excellent use of DOF, especially with this angle of view, well-balanced composition and great lighting. The BG is plain and soft as it should be too.
Personnally, I prefer watching the bird like this :

Beautifully captured Daniel with all of the above and I very much like the composition. It does look a tad oversharpened on my monitor,

I like it Daniel, but I agree with Judy about it looking a bit oversharpened.

I think its an appealing image as well. My only nit is that usually you see Mullien plants in a verticle position. (Were supposed to find nits right)? :)
