Default Fight for a Frog !

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hello everyone ! I really appreciate for your inputs on my previous post .

Here is an image from a near by tiger reserve where we normally see lots of birds and jackals, Tigers are very elusive in this part of the jungle.

These two young jackals were fighting out for this small piece of meal , a frog it seems . It was a cloudy morning and they were moving around in the open space chasing and fighting each other, in the process getting very close to our vehicle. Ultimately it had a tame finish.

DPP 4.5, CS6, WB, curves, selective colour , cloned out couple of grass blades from the BKG, one round of NR, shadow/HL, No cropping ( FF), sharpening .

Canon 1DX MK II, Canon 500mm f4 IS II, Bean Bag.

1/1000 sec ( should have been more, which was increased later on) ; f/5.6; ISO 3200.

All your Comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Cracking interaction here Haseeb, techs appear to have worked as you have the sharpness on the face, yet some motion blur in the body which I think is cool. Great body posture from both, well framed considering the timing aspect, I really like this one.

Appears you have all the issues ironed out now Haseeb, great work.

    Hello Haseeb,

I really enjoyed viewing this frame and it made me think of my Kalahari jackals.

Super framing and I love the expression you captured from the two subjects. As well as interaction, I think it's fantastic!

Well processed with good detail where it matters I too like the "motion blur versus sharpness" - in this case it works very well as it emphasises action and movement.

Colours look good, Haseeb. You had that FP spot on, well done

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

What an image. Expression on both jackals could not have been better even if they were modelling ! And you got right DOF at 5.6 -- sharp where needed and blur where not..

Hi Haseeb - Fantastic action, well captured. I love the facial expression and body posture of the one with the frog and the open mouth with visible teeth of the pursuer. I agree that this is sharp where it needs to be and that the bit of motion helps convey the chaos of the moment. In an ideal world perhaps a little more room all around but not a deal breaker.

    TFS,
    Rachel

This is an absolute beauty, Haseeb. You have done very well to get this and nice sharpness and detail too: Looks like you were panning when you shot this based on the 'smear' visible on the grass, which makes this a doubly good capture at the settings you were using. Colours look natural to my eye but I can't comment beyond that and tonally it works for me with detail visible where it matters. Tight composition also works for me. Did I say how good this was?

That's a real cracker of a shot, the action is well caught, I think the SS was good, the faces are sharp and there is a little suggestion of movement in the paws.

Brilliant capture, Haseeb. You've caught the interaction, filled with expression perfectly. Wouldn't change a thing including the ss, for it gives the right amount of motion blur, IMO.

Love the action here Haseeb, turned out the DOF and S/S selection worked in your favour here, the look on the RH jackal is priceless.
