A couple of weeks ago I was photographing a Great Horned Owlet during the day's last sunlight. Directly at my back was this...one of the parents keeping a distant, but watchful eye on its branching brood, silhouetted by said day's last light.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, deepened the blacks in post, tweaked the oranges to what I remembered best from that evening.

Beautiful Daniel. Love the way the bird is framed by the foliage and the dark mood of the image. You could not have planned a better spot for that bird to be sitting in.

This is lovely! Did you set the Kelvin temp in camera ?
Love the way the owl is framed and the spooky, moody feeling to this.
    Great for a Halloween card!

Oh I like this one. The bird is beautifully framed by the branches, and what a lovely colour of orange on the BG.
