    Default Kruger Cub

    Dear Friends,

I have not shared an image for the past few days, been trying to process a few rather challenging frames from my Kruger trip and still not 100% happy with the results. So I have a simple lion portrait for you tonight, and Rachel you will have to "bear" with me until I get the others right

This is FF. Taken one early morning in semi-cloudy conditions and shot without support, therefore the high SS. Four cubs were crossing the road and a number of cars present at the sighting, impossible to reposition vehicle. I just stretched to the other window and took a few frames before those little chaps disappeared from view.

    Nikon D5
    Nikon 500 F4
    ISO 800
    F6.3
    1/3200s

Processed in LR and PSCC, exposure, curves, levels, selective colour adjustments and a couple of other tiny tweaks. Hope you don't find this too boring, I love portraits and lions and I thought having a clean BG was a bit of a bonus, so here it is...

Thank you kindly for comments and critique on my previous images, I truly appreciate it.

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Nothing wrong with a clean BG lion closeup Gabriela, nicely done, superb lighting with good techs, although being early morning I might cool the WB just a tad.

Excellent exposure Gabriela, details are everywhere! Love the warm colours. I wish I could just lean out of my car window and grab a few shots like this!

Hi Gabriela - Lovely shot of this cub and it is always nice to see a well done portrait. This must have been when the sun was peeking through those clouds as the light is nice and warm. Nice detail. Not sure you needed to go so high on the ss but it works.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hello Everyone

Thank you so much for your time to view and comments, much appreciated.

Rachel you are right, the sun was just peeking through as the little ones crossed and I could not change settings as I was holding tight onto my gear. The D5/500 combo weighs about 7 kg I think

And Marc, I admit I like things a bit on the warmer side - more cheerful

Jon, you have to come back to SA

    Have a lovely evening friends,

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

What's not to like here Gabriela, it all works beautifully, simple, clean well executed.

    Beautiful and simple portrait Gabriela.
Works for me just as it's meant to work.
I am a fan of warmer colour temps myself.
