Had to test the MarkIV out on some deer. They are pretty ragged looking this time of year. Long winter, transitioning to their summer coats from their winter ones. This image was created in Ithaca, New York on 5/7/18 at 7:12PM. Image adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop.

    Hand held, Small crop.

John I really like this, the curious pose and the lighting/setting makes for a very interesting shot. These deer must be providing you with hours of excellent entertainment and tranquility, I am really envious.
I have a couple of suggestions, I did a little dodging on the ears and face, I think it helped to lift detail slightly, secondly I would suggest a little NR.

    Hello John,

A very pretty and delicate looking Doe despite its "ragged" look. The backlighting here is lovely, it gives a certain mood, or "feel" to the frame. Composition works well and I like the space on the LHS. I notice a few bright spots in the BG which I would just tame a bit. Some NR would be nice.

Lastly, I would reduce the slight magenta cast on the doe and raise exposure a little, especially on the face and neck.

I really enjoyed this, thank you so much for sharing

Let's have more Does and Painted Turtles please:)

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Love the tentative pose, colour/habitat and use of the early evening back lighting John, agree with John & Gabriela on some detail/lighting on the face and selective use of NR on the BG.

Hi John - I really like the backlighting here and the nice rim light on the ears. Good suggestions above, particularly about reducing the magenta on the doe.

    Rachel
