    Default Snowy Egret Dip Fishing...

Out to Circle B Bar Reserve this morning. l have been enjoying photographing Snowy Egrets and Tri-colored Herons catching fish that are concentrated in a small pond. The egret is turned slightly away from the plane but the head turn back parallel to the camera/planed I think redeems the image. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Lovely pearly whites and plumage detail on this one, Joe - and of course a great moment of capture. I'd be tempted to back off the contrast just a little.

Hi Glenn, thank you for viewing and commenting. I went back to the image and tried reducing the contrast. The whites were graying too much, so I tweaked the exposure settings along with a minor contrast change. Very bright contrasty light with the dark water and bright bird. To prevent the whites from clipping I had to reduce exposure by one and two thirds stops. Here is a repost of the edit.

White birds in strong sunlight are tough to deal with and you've done well. I think the repost looks better to my eye - worth it.

Perfect timing here. Love the splashing water and the pose on the bird.

Wish I could take credit for the timing but not to be. When the bird makes a dash to catch a fish I begin panning and capturing images. Most of the time the camera and me are blind with the mirror going up and down at 10fps. I use short bursts rather than just mashing the shutter button catching a glimpse and hopefully the camera grabbing focus in between bursts. I only know what images I have captured afterwards. Thank you for viewing and commenting, really appreciated.
