Thanks for the comments and feed-back on my earlier BN Grebe image. I think this alternative shot from the same session responds to Arash's suggestion of a more uniform background.

I particularly like the contrast of the bird and the red eyes on the green background

    Canon EOS 1DX, EF 200-400 @560 plus Ext 1.4 III for 784mm
    Tv 1/800 AV f8.0 ISO 1600
Converted in DPP4, optimised in PS5.1 NR with Define 2 mostly on background with light touch on the bird

    Comments and feedback always appreciated.

A lovely tranquil and arresting image Gerald, with a perfect low POV, from the bank or floating hide?

I like the placement in frame and the head to camera works for me. I would have just gone to ISO2500/3200, with that combo you need the SS unless on a solid support, controlling any noise is no problem. Adding some depth to the FG, an Alpha Curves for the whites on the bow waves, just to bring some tone back in, it's there, plus another for the darks of the head and back, it just adds some richness and the water droplets (very cool) standout more. A pleasure to view,

    TFS

Very Nice Image. I like the Head Angle and the low point of view.

I wish I can get this close to these guys here.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Hello Gerald,

Killer POV here and super cute subject:)

Well captured and I like the HA with both eyes visible (just cannot believe how bright red they are).

Good composition and beautiful detail on the Grebe - love it!!!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Gerald, excellent light and IQ here, and what a great low perspective. I do like the head turn towards you, lovely red eyes, and overall, well exposed on the Grebe. The droplets add interest on its back. I could see a version with some taken off the bottom in line with the end of the reflection.

This is lovely Gerald.Great POV, BG and killer head position with the 2 red eyes so clearly visible.
Blacks and details therein look excellent.
My only suggestion would echo Stuart's- take a bit off the bottom,
    Gail

This is about perfect. The look, the water, the BG, the color. I would just crop in a bit tighter to put a bit more emphasis on the incredible subject.
