    Hello Everyone!

Rachel just reminded me the Theme for this month is Rodents and Rabbits so here's something cute for you.

Image captured one early morning in the Kalahari a couple of months back. A simple frame, just thought the POV was quite nice and I liked the visible brown stripe and sweet pose from this little one.

My companion and I had only one chance to grab this shot. As soon as this little fellow heard the sound of the camera shutter he disappeared down his little burrow. I guess he popped up somewhere else, we waited quite a while but did not see him again

Hope you all have a lovely evening,

And thank you so much for viewing and comments on my previous images

    Kind regards,

Certainly is cute Gabriela, lovely detail and pin sharp ,do like the plain sandy setting though that bit of a stick is a bit of a nuisance but that's where it was.Sounds like these little chaps are difficult ,love what you have got.

A sweet capture Gabriela, just not a fan of the FG grass stem. Nice detail & PP.

Hi Gabriela - Thanks for starting us off this month. He does look cute and nice detail. I too like the stripe. I agree with Steve that the placement of the twig/stem in the fg is unfortunate but nothing you could do about it.

    Rachel

Thank you so much dear friends!

Decided not remove the sticks because the mouse put them there. He would have been very upset if I showed no appreciation for his landscaping skills

    Have a great evening, everyone!

    Warmest regards,

Lets not upset Mickey, that's fine now we know the mouse put it there, for bedding/nesting?

Steve, this little mouse's nest down that burrow is filled with little stems, sticks, and lined with fur (I have not checked this one of course, found a few old ones while camping a few years back and did my research) While foraging, he picks up certain conspicuous things such as sticks and twigs which he uses as landmarks. If one is patient, one can see those little chaps meticulously arranging those sticks in a particular way (and especially when the wind blows and moves them, LOL).

Gabriela wish you had told us this before, think now the sticks add to the image rather than detract .

Hey Gabriela, wow this is just lovely, love the pose and that I can see the stripe, love the dof and the detail and finally find the notes on the twigs fascinating. It's a fascinating aspect of image making that our subjects have behaviours that can be viewed as a distraction,by a viewer that doesn't understand their significance,I also knew nothing about this behavioural aspect, lovely to read your notes and learn a bit about the tiny fella. How cool!!!!

I like this, little to change for me

    Thank you so much Stu,

This is a lesson for me. I used to write lengthy stories and give lots of info when sharing images, especially when it came to those little critters people don't know much about. It did cross my mind to explain the presence of the sticks while I was processing but posted in a hurry and forgot. Oh, I just wanted to be the first to share a Theme image

    Have a wonderful week-end buddy
