Default Juvenile Little Blue Heron hunting fish

This image of a juvenile Little Blue Heron was taken on the last day of Artie’s 2018 Fort Desoto IPT. We were photographing another bird when this guy and a tri colored heron flew in right in front of me to hunt. The low pov is from laying in the water.
Below are short rundowns of settings and my post processing:

    Canon 7Dii and 100-400mm ii
    ISO 400
    AV ƒ/14
    TV 1/1250
    Focal Length 371mm
Manual Exposure / Servo / AF Point Expansion / Back Button Focus

    Processed in DPP4 and PScc

I set the aperture to ƒ/14 because the subject was pretty close to minimum focus range and I wanted to cover the whole bird. This resulted in a slight under exposure, so I raised the exposure just a bit in DPP.

Thanks for taking the time to look. As always, telling me what you like about the shot, and what might improve the final product is appreciated.

Looks good to me. Nice hunting pose with the water splashing. Like the low angle and the background.

Nice low angle shooting, hunting pose and water splash. I wish your shot was a friction of a second sooner to still see the head and the eye. TFS.

Good action capture and I like the water reflections on the LBH's body. Agree that I wish for some part of the eye to be visible.

Lorant and John Whaley - I'll post another thread soon with the resulting catch. Thanks for commenting along with John Mack.

Oddly enough the lack of eye is working for me in this case, probably due to the way the water is wrapping around the upper neck area. Great low angle. F/14 was maybe a bit overkill, but all turned out well.

Hi Noel, a little unconventional but I like the image. It tells a story and keeps the viewer wondering if it was a successful catch. Nice low angle, worth getting wet for. Amazing you were that close to be almost the minimum focusing distance. Thank you for sharing.
