The bird is aptly named, since his call does indeed sound like a blacksmith's hammer hitting an anvil. He's shown here doing an after-bath wingstretch. (I took quite a few frames of him bathing, and the guide was eager to move on, but I said "Wait, he'll give us a wingstretch in just a minute." And he did.) I liked the way this shows his wing spurs. Cropped from horizontal.

I'm glad the guide waited because you have captured a very nice image. Good control of the blacks and whites. Exposure spot on. Love the pose and the natural looking BG. Bird looks good with the FG blending into the BG. nice detail.

The wing spurs are pretty cool. The pose is great. Like the water drops and the grasses.

Good call on waiting Bill and I'm surprised about the guide wanting to move on, these folk are exceptional in both their experience and knowledge.

Nice control of the blacks & whites, just a shame you had to crop the format and loose some of that data/IQ. Great that you had a successful trip, hope you get another one in the bag.

Hi Bill, a image worth waiting for. Rather than repeating I echo the previous comments. Thank you for sharing.

Nice wing flap, Bill. Great view of the wing spurs, and I like the water droplets.

    Thank you all.

Steve, I wasn't intending to put down the guide. The guides in all three of our camps were extraordinary, with great patience and superb knowledge of the birds' habitats and behavior. I just hadn't communicated with him that I wanted a wing flap, and there were hundreds of other species that he was eager to show me.
