I went to Bempton to get gannets, I came home with a jackdaw and a razorbill! All flying too low - wasted trip..almost!

I like the grassy setting here Jonathan...an under used medium I think....and the matching colour of eye and sky is a nice touch. The bird has caught the wasp exactly so the stinger can't be used--coincidence or do they always do it that way?

At least you got something. Like the wasp or bee? I could see some more room below. Like the grass and the blue in the background.

The wasp really makes the image that much more interesting, pretty neat. I agree with a touch more room below, but I like almost all else - shadow on the top part of the eye being an exception.

Hi Jon, surprised you went so early as I said to you, but worth the punt.

Main issue already covered, like the 'meal' in the beak, just raises the bar on the capture. Give me a heads up next time, I'll meet you there and before the 'world and his wife arrives' too.

I went up last week Jon - and my best shot of the day was a Jackdaw as well! I think a lot of birds are a couple of weeks behind this year with the weather we've had. My best day at Bempton was a couple of years ago on 26th April, so hopefully they shouldn't be far off now.

A nice bonus to get the meal, I agree with the crop suggestions. Looks like you were in one of my favourite spots, just to the left of the main viewing areas

    Mike
