I was walking a local dyke with my labs when two of these suddenly started up a fuss about 30 yds. ahead of us. I realized we must have been approaching their nest so got the dogs under control quickly and snapped off a few shots before beating a quick retreat. Lighting wasn't ideal , as we were walking into the setting sun, but it was diffused through a thin cloud cover so the overall effect turned out OK-----I think ?. 1Dx Mark II, EF 100-0400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS II +1.2xIII, ISO1250, f/8, 1/640Name: kildeer.jpg

Details look pretty good here. I like the funky background as well. For it being back lit I think it came out pretty well. Although I'm sure the photo would have been far better if that sun was at your back.
