    This is the same bird as the Common Merganser, we call them Goosander this side of the pond. This is another one I had posted last year, reprocessed for posting larger, and for for this months theme. Over here these birds are difficult to get close to. For this one, and also Little Grebe, I was on the side of the loch, under a cam net. Unfortunately, the light deteriorated as the day went on.

    Such a beautiful pose and close up. I do see a little bit of noise in the birds head and on the back.Easy fix for a beautiful shot.

    I really like closeup portraits. This one is no exception. Love the upturned bill and eye contact. Thanks for sharing.

    Really very nice. I love the water drop. I would do some NR on the bill and the eye to clean up that bit of noise. TFS

    These guys are tough to get close to here as well. Neat closeup, and agree with some NR to strategic areas mentioned.

    like the head angle and the water drop, good exposure but you are still struggling with noise...you really need to rethink your processing if you are looking for improvement
