    Default Red Lechwe Running

We were poling the makoros through the Okavango when we spooked a Red Lechwe feeding in the shallow water. He put on a great show as he splashed his way across the marsh. I wish I had had the foresight and the skill to try a video. but this is the best I could get. I know that there will be demerits since he is running away, but that is what they do, and I like the dynamic sense of it. I believe the trees in the distance are where we later spotted and photographed the Pel's Fishing Owl.

Bill just a touch more head turn but as I well know perfect situations are hard to come by,think the action you have caught is brilliant ,those antlers look sharp and detailed, really do like this Bill.

Good action well caught, I think you made the most of a difficult situation.

Hi Bill - You did the hard part which was freezing the action. Techs look good. Splash, sharpness and detail all look good. It's a shame the lechwe didn't cooperate just a little more and give a bit of a head turn or a higher leap. I do wish you had a bit more room below for the virtual legs. I also wish the tree in the bg was not intersecting the antlers. Given the circumstances though I doubt there was much you could do about either.

Hi Bill, was this around Jao, Jacana, Tubu Tree, Kwetsani by any chance?

I like the perspective and the techs are good, enough to freeze the subject, but with the subject is going away from camera, so it's not a keeper for me sadly.

Thanks Steve. I knew this wouldn't appeal to everyone. It was taken near Little Vumbura camp.
