I like the feather display, but the background clearly detracts. I'm sure there is a way (or several ways) in Photoshop to clean up the background around the bird, but I don't know how to do it.
Any suggestions, or do you even think it is worthwhile to put the effort in?
Don't fall on the "fix it in PS syndrome" Work you image at the time it was made. In this case you could move left to have the bird with more blue sky. Is this a rookery image? Is yes there are lots of other nests around, find the bird with the good bg !!
As presented keep in mind that you want the bird more on the right side of the frame, he is looking left so place him right !!! Also images with the bird in mixed lighting seldom will work !! Difficult to be able to make a proper exposure !!!

I have the same problem - SOMETIMES it's knowing WHEN not to take a photo and continuing to look for better conditions etc.
