    Default African Golden Weaver (M)

    A great opportunity we had to capture this Weaver constructing the nest. I captured this image early Feb. in Botswana, while the sun was still quite bright, but luckily he was building the nest in partial shade. C&C welcome.

    D500, 150-600mm C @ 600mm, 1/1600s, f 6.3, HH, ISO 2500.

    Hi Geoff, typical behaviour captured here, and if he doesnt build it the right way for a future partner, he ends up breaking it all down again. I like the hanging pose, and nicely separated from the far BG. I would maybe take a bit off the bottom.

    What fun it was to watch this guy building and rebuilding his nest. Funny thing: of the hundreds of images we both took of him, you chose to process exactly the same frame that I did, because that pose was so compelling. I agree a bit off the bottom wouldn't hurt. You might get a little more detail and richness out of the bird if you toned down the brightness of the yellow just a tad.
