Taken from the car in Kruger Park somewhere south of Skukuza in the direction of Letaba.
As you might imagine I took one or two of this beauty but the more interesting poses usually had the tail obscured.

Pose on the bird is nice. The perch is okay. Still a nice capture. Looks like you were rocking the Mark III on your trip.

Nice look back pose with a great view of the back of the bird. The colors of the bird seem off to me. They don't look rich enough or deep enough.

I think the light wasn’t conducive to rendering brilliant plumage, also I think some, see later on, were juveniles

Good look-back pose. Perch could be better but at least it's not obscuring the bird. I'm surprised that f/9 didn't render the tail a bit sharper. As to the color, some of mine from Botswana looked very much like this, while some were richer. I don't know if they were juvies, or if it was the light, which in my case was often pretty dismal.

Sounds similar Bill poor light and juvies. I think I may have a brighter one somewhere.

Hi Jon, lovely pose and good feather detail. Its a real pity that you may have had poor light on most of your trip. The colours look fine, and I feel if you had better light, they would certainly show up better.

This is not a Juvie. I will mail you an image with a parent and Juvie together - there is a difference.
