Here's another Jacana shot. I didn't have much luck catching these guys in flight. This is essentially a grab shot when he appeared out of nowhere with no time to adjust settings. This is already a fairly large crop, so rather than push it any further I kept the bird small in the frame to show the nice marsh environment.

The crop works for me like the environmental setting here. Looks pretty good for a grab frame.

Bill - that's a really cool looking bird. This looks a lot sharper than anything I've shot at ISO 2000. I love the down wing position and the clarity on the extended toes adds to the shot. Like John said, I think its pretty good for something appearing out of nowhere.

Excellent result for a grab shot, Bill. The small in the frame approach works well. Colour looks good too and detail on the brown parts and legs looks great. However, this does look a bit odd around the head and the primaries which look like oversharpening? White on the bird looks a touch hot too but maybe there is little detail to recover there in which case I wouldn't change it much. But as I said, great for a grab shot.
