Hi Keith a very well captured stretching pose ...but with the wrong side facing the camera .....i do feel the butt is less ideal facing the camera . But for sure you had no option to avoid it.
Good detail and overall tonality . The WB or colors are looking off to me , still blues and magentas are strongly visible . I would get the WB right and then tweak the rest in PS.

I like the strech pose and the surrounding environment. Agree about the angle of the hare.

Hi Keith - An interesting behavioral shot but I agree not ideal to have the head angled away and the rear so prominent here. I also agree with Andreas about the WB/colors but I know you, Jon and Stu are much more familiar with the colors of these hares than I am. Looking forward to more.

Hi Keith, not an ideal frame with the subject looking away, but prefer this to the previous image. You could have squeezed a bit more SS as you have the D4, but I don't understand why f/4, but as no one else has mentioned it perhaps it's me, may be I'm missing something?? WB/colour already cover by Andreas, but worth a review Keith.

Andreas thanks for taking a look and your comment, did think it might be a bit wrong about it's angle and just wanted to point out the Hare at full stretch. If I can impose on you a little more, spent a lot of time trying to remove blues and magentas with hue/saturation is the colour that you point out on the Hare our the bg?sorry if my question is a bit basic but I would love to get this right.

Thanks John let the outstretched pose take over a bit.

Rachel thank you,if you have any thoughts on my reply to Andreas I would be very pleased to hear them.

Steve afraid not getting out much so these images I am posting are some that where taken some time ago(is this ok?) ,do you think it was detrimental to the image or just curiosity.Would you also suggest maybe I have the WB wrong,i did go through all the WB options and was happy at the time. Thanks a lot for your comment and suggestions.

Sorry to hear this Keith, hope you will managed to find time with the 'Mice' this year in the Summertime, as you created some lovely images of an animals not seen much.

do you think it was detrimental to the image or just curiosity
Hard to say, I just asked it as no one else did. I think having the angle and the rear to view it was probably OK, but personally I rarely shoot wide open, but I think it does work here, however the camera will always shoot wide open until the shutter goes off.

Would you also suggest maybe I have the WB wrong
Yep, I think it's more 'back to basics' then adjust things after if required. To me it's not just the WB, there is more involved and hard to change in the OP.

Thanks for this Steve, apart from the angle of the pose which we talked about I am more than happy with this repost, tried with mine and did some more with hue/sat on the bg and increased the saturation a little which brought it very close to yours.on the right track?

Hi Keith, 99.9% of most issues re Colour is the WB, if you crack that (and YOU can, I know ), then the rest is plain sailing. I would keep all colour adjustments to a minimum (don't fiddle) as this may lead you astray which is perhaps what happened here?

    Cheers

Keith I am late - been out photographing mountain hares!! I like the relaxed pose and the fact that the hare looks very much at ease. I would have gone for f8 but I admit your wide aperture has nicely muted the background. I think your shutter speed was a bit borderline ( I wouldn't have done 5 years ago!).
Regarding your colour troubles you have my sympathy! Been there, seen it, done it, got the T shirt! Still have occasional problems. Give me a call if you wish I may have a couple of quick tips, have a file open in ACR.

Might be worth another try Keith and perhaps with a wee dram in hand too, he's nicer and more polite too?

Hello keith, howareya mate?? What a joy to see you posting a hare, even if it is an older image, lovely to see !!

I'd almost lay a bet she's just got up,but it doesn't always work that way,i've seen this many many times. the best bit for us image makers is they almost always totter and face away like yours has done. Buddy I agree completely with the colours and the stance, but one can't do anything about the stance. I like Steve's repost Keith also the advice of getting that WB right first is ringing true for me. Sure i'm learning but these hares I see alot,so fight with these things often, WB is my first point of call.

Mate I do hope you are ok i'm picking up from above that things aren't too good, I hope i'm wrong and if not they improve for you very soon

All the luck cheers for sharing lovely to see,I was about to post but had to come here first

    take care mate !!
