Nice to be able to get out in the somewhat cooler weather here in Brisbane...it's been too hot for too long! Here's an Eastern yellow Robin captured at Mt Nebo, just north of Brisbane. 7D Mk2, 100-400 lens at 400mm, 1/125th sec, f6.3, iso1600. Crop, noise reduction to the background in Photoshop. The low light in the rainforest necessitated a higher iso setting (something I've been experimenting with lately) and I'm happy with the result. Feedback welcome as always.

Hi John,
Thanks for the feedback. I took a number of shots of the Robin, so here's another with its head a little more turned. What do you think? I also have shots of it looking straight at me.
Cheers. Paul
I prefer the shot with the better head angle. Comments will be about the second one. I think you needed more shutter speed to get this tack sharp. It looks very good but not perfect to me. These kinds of shots are very hard. The background is just too cluttered and too close I think to make a pleasing background. Also I would apply a little more NR to background and to the bird as the belly/chest is still a bit noisy. I think it needs to be brightened a bit as well.
